From humble origins Lazy things grow
Simon Rhoden was a determined, humorous and intelligent young man who had his life cut short by Cystic Fibrosis. Having to spend plenty of time on the couch to rest, Simon thought up the idea of the doona suit. I had a chuckle to myself when I heard about this but it did get my mind ticking.
A year or so later I mentioned this idea around the dinner table. My family thought I was nuts, but luckily my sister-in law thought this was an idea worth pursuing. After purchasing a couple of Doona's* at the Christmas sales, she set about making the first prototype. The jacket was huge and the pants bulky – I looked like stay puft the marsh mallow man, but I knew it was a winner. Many hours lying on the couch watching footy, temperature testing in freezing conditions down the coast and in the Yarra Valley (cold areas of Victoria Australia), and more than two years working on the style has resulted in the current lazypatch duvet suit.
lazypatch's mission is all about comfort and relaxation – lazypatch aims to provide clothing that enables easy transformation from the bedroom to the couch. Downtime is a must for all, and lazypatch suits provide warmth, comfort and that feeling of security that only your duvet can replicate – but the lazypatch duvet suit is mobile, and depending on your warmth factor you can switch between full suit, Jacket and/or pants.
We are continually looking at ways to make you more comfortable and refine our products. The detachable hood was added due to popular demand, as well as the boots. The kids range is now available for pre-order and due out in about June 2011 and we are working on several other projects, as well as making a couple of alterations to make the suit even more comfortable.
I hope you enjoy your lazypatch as much as I do and please feel free to drop us a comment
In memory of Simon, a percentage of profits from lazypatch will be going to the Simon Rhoden foundation to help ease the pain of current cystic fibrosis sufferers.
